Sad & Wonderful

RIP pro wrestling’s Mr. Wonderful, 71. Born in Florida, Paul Parlette Orndorff Jr. attended the University of Tampa, where he was a running back, graduating in 1972. He was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the 12th round of the 1973 NFL draft, but soon turned to professional wrestling. (Facts from Wiki) He was a great heel. Although he will be remembered most for his feud with Hulk Hogan, there are three instances I found much more entertaining: a promotional bout with whipping boy Rudy Diamond, a fast paced brawl with Rowdy Roddy Piper on Saturday Night’s Main Event that had the house rockin’, and a promo from when Orndorff and Piper were tag team partners prepping for a match vs Hogan and Mr. T at WrestleMania I. Although cause of death has not been disclosed, it is believed Orndorff suffered cognitive damage he attributed to his career. He and others lost a lawsuit in that regard filed against the WWE. Here’s a link to the eight minute clip of the Diamond beat down and post-match interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGAMKn_rUnk
And the six-minute mayhem from SNME: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9V5br1QhMs
And the third piece, six minutes. Fast forward through first minute, an ad for WrestleMania: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrNGNsd1jOU

Thanks for the fun, sir.

In his op-ed piece today at nypost.com, Michael Goodwin had this to say about leftists: “… it must confuse them that millions from Latin America risk their lives and fortunes to get to our southern border. In their twisted minds, Americans should be rushing to the border to escape.” Kudos.

First line from an article about a North Carolina school by Bradford Betz at foxnews.com: “Starting this fall, Davidson College will be offering a course titled “#Abolishthepolice: Race and Policing in the U.S.” Gee, think there’ll be a chapter in it about the ongoing slaughter of blacks by blacks?

Not much action at the floating book shop as the heat returned. My thanks to the woman who bought The Best of Us by Sarah Pekkanen, and to the one who overcompensated me for a beautifully illustrated Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs; and to Monse`, who purchased the five remaining CDs I’d burned long ago.
