Saddle Up

Holy cow — a Hollywood leftist and I actually agree on something. Headline from nypost.com: “Whoopi Goldberg defends ‘Blazing Saddles’ against cancel culture — ‘Don’t make me come for you’.” I have one thing to say: “Where the white women at?” Photo from Google Images:

From NYP: “Paige Spiranac is struggling with fame: ‘Imposter syndrome is real’.” I often feel like a fraud about my books and it isn’t because my sales are pathetic, so I’m not surprised someone who’s really successful would feel like a fake. Besides being a social media influencer, the young beauty is a golf instructor. She won a tournament on the developmental Cactus Tour, but failed to qualify for the LPGA tour. Still, she got a lot farther than 99% of those who play the game. I wonder if a certain part of her anatomy hampered her. Photo from GI:

WTF? From NYP: “Cartel hitman known for decapitating enemies vanishes from US prison.”

According to an NYP article by Brooke Kato, the most searched term in 2022 was “Wordle,” a simple web game that challenges people to find a five-letter word in six guesses.

Headline from newsmax.com: “CBP: Northern Border Apprehensions Significantly Increasing.” That probably means even more are sneaking through. Progressives must be thrilled.

Where was the former honcho when it mattered most? Headline from NM: “Jack Dorsey on Twitter Files: ‘Just Release Everything Without Filter’.” Better late than never, I guess.

The mainstream media will spin the release of Brittney Griner, who is either very dumb or extremely arrogant, perhaps both, as a win for Biden when it’s actually a victory the embattled Putin sorely needed. Granted, she was a political prisoner whose punishment did not fit her crime, but the administration should have played hardball and demanded the release of ex-Marine Paul Whelan, accused of espionage, as well. The cost was very high, the release of “The Merchant of Death.” I’ll put a capper on the story with this headline from foxnews.com: “Brittney Griner is coming home. Will she stand for the anthem now that she’s back in the USA?”

Find a more amusing headline in today’s news than this one from FN: “Gen Z congressman-elect laments being denied apartment due to ‘really bad credit’.” Don’t fret, son, dirtbags will be offering you tons of money very soon.

Also from FN: “401(k) ‘hardship’ withdrawals surge to record high as inflation squeezes Americans.”

The incoming far exceeded the outgoing at today’s session of the floating book shop. My thanks to the donors, especially the woman who dropped about 40 titles on me, most in Russian; and to the two lovely young women who combined to buy Emma and Mansfield Park by Jane Austen, True Colors by Kristen Hannah, and Should I Eat This? by Consumer Reports.
