RIP MLB Hall of Fame first-baseman Orlando Cepeda, 86. Born in Puerto Rico, he played for six teams, career spanning 1958-’74. His nickname “The Baby Bull,” derived from his father, a star known as “The Bull” in the Puerto Rican league. Cepeda was the unanimous selection Rookie of the Year in ‘58 and the NL MVP in ’67, also unanimous. Here are other individual accomplishments: eleven-time All-Star, World Series champion (1967 Cardinals), NL home run leader (1961), two-time NL RBI leader, San Francisco Giants #30 retired. Following a knee injury, he was the NL Comeback Player of the Year in ’66. Overall, he hit .297, had 2351 hits and 379 homers. Married twice, he was a father of four. Photo from Google Images:

RIP actor/comedian Martin Mull, 80. Born in Chicago, he grew up in Ohio. He did standup to finance art school tuition, and it led to comedy albums. He broke big in 1976 as a member of the cast of Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, then its spinoffs Fernwood Tonight and America 2-Night, a total of 168 episodes. He became a frequent guest on talk and variety shows. There are 147 titles under his name at IMDb, screen career spanning ‘76–2003. He was in 46 episodes of Roseanne, 73 of Sabrina the Teenage Witch and at least ten of 19 other series. On the big screen he was in FM (1978), My Bodyguard (1980), Mr. Mom (1983), Clue (1985), The Player (1992), Mrs. Doubtfire (1993) to name just six. His multi-media artwork has been showcased in galleries worldwide. Married three times, the third time from ’82 until his death, he was a father of one. Photos from GI:

Headline from nypost.com: “Changing course: Tractor Supply ends ‘woke’ DEI, climate change policies after boycott campaign.” Is it a one-shot or continuation of a trend worldwide? May it be the latter.

From NYP: “Drug prices soar nearly 40% over past decade, surpassing inflation: study.” I thought Obamacare was supposed to bring them down.

Punch to the USA’s gut, headline from foxnews.com: “Iconic American company announces mass layoffs as production shifts out of country.” John Deere moving to Mexico. Say it ain’t so, Joe. Hopefully, it’s a bluff.

My thanks to Alice, who bought The Gift of Asher Lev by Chaim Potok, and to the woman who donated six books.
