Screened

The most expensive piece of American art ever sold, an Andy Warhol silkscreen, went for $195 million. Here’s a pic:

Headline from nypost.com: “Hackers hijack Russian TV to say country has ‘blood on your hands’ for Ukraine war.” I wonder what percentage of hacking is as positive as this — less than 1%?… In a similar vein, headline from newsmax.com: “Pentagon: Some Russian Troops ‘Refusing to Obey Orders’.” Please let it be so and spread far and wide.

Does the following signal a further dumbing down of America? Headline from NM: “US Bar Endorses Removing LSAT Requirement for Law School.”… In a similar vein, headline from foxnews.com: “Parents enraged after school board cancels honors classes in ‘equity’ push.”

RIP prolific actor Jack Kehler, 75, who succumbed to leukemia. Born in Philly, his career spanned 1983 to the present, his last appearance will be posthumous. At home on the big or small screen, there are 171 titles under his name at IMDb. He did at least three guest shots on eight series. He appeared in Year of the Dragon (1985), Point Break (1991), The Last Boy Scout (1991), Wyatt Earp (1994), Waterworld (1995), Lost Highway (1997), The Big Lebowski (1998), Lethal Weapon 4 (1998), Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999), Men In Black II (2002) and The Sound and the Fury (2014). Well done, sir. Thank you.

Still windy at my usual book nook, but it didn’t deter buyers. My thanks to Fred, who bought three mysteries, all having “Murder” in the title; and to the gentleman who purchased a pictorial on sharks; and to Arthur, who communicated with a female surrogate by cell phone and picked up a Word Search, The Brethren by John Grisham and No Second Chance by Harlen Coben; and to Ira, who took home A Treasury of American Anecdotes by B. A. Botkin; and to the elderly woman who did a swap of Russian books; and to the business-minded Gareth, who selected Values-Based Selling: The Art of Building High-Trust Client Relationships by Bill Bachrach, a book few others would choose.
