Short & Lomg of It

Excerpt from an NYP article by Isabel Vincent, edited by yours truly: “…’derealization’ — a little-known psychological disorder, affects 2% of the population, many saying it makes them feel like robots.” 6.4 million are affected in the USA. In my latter years I’ve wondered if I’m more robot than human, so rigid are my ways.
By Quid Peo Joe’s logic: the 74,222,958 Americans who voted for Trump in 2020 are Fascists.
What a relief the drop in humidity is. Oddly, I wasn’t ravaged by skeeters in August for the first time in several years. Maybe 2022 was too hot for the little buggers.
Headline from foxnews.com: “Democrat governor’s own family fled to Florida during pandemic.” California’s Newsom.
The Circle channel, 48–2 on OTA in NYC, focuses largely on Country music. It also shows old TV series such as Hunter and Wiseguy. Each night at seven and eight it airs Longmire, which originally ran for three seasons on A&E and then on Netflix for another three. It shot 63 episodes from 2012-’17. It’s the story of a modern Wyoming sheriff, starring Robert Taylor, who one would never guess is Australian, Katee Sackhoff and Lou Diamond Phillips. Hollywood stalwarts A Martinez, Gerald McRaney and Graham Greene also appear in multiple episodes. Bailey Chase is outstanding as a Deputy who loses his way. Martinez’s career spans 1953 to the present. There are 144 credits under his name at IMDb, but that doesn’t begin to illustrate how prolific he has been. He was in 1493 episodes alone of Santa Barbara, a soap opera, 39 of L.A. Law, 98 of General Hospital, 52 of One Life to Live, 72 of Days of Our Lives — to name a few. Born in California in 1948, his heritage is a mix of Mexican, Indian and Northern European. His second marriage spans 1982 to the present. He is a dad of three… Born in Mississippi, McRaney’s career spans 1969-present, 147 titles under his name, again a misleading number, as he was in 156 episodes alone of Simon & Simon and 96 of Major Dad, and he has made multiple appearances in tons of popular show… Born in the Six Nations Reserve, Ontario, Greene has portrayed Native Americans many times, including in Dances with Wolves, for which he received an Oscar nomination. There are 173 titles under his name… Phillips broke big as Ritchie Valens in La Bamba (1987) and has not looked back. Born in the Philippines, there are 154 titles under his name. He also has 12 credits as a director, one an episode of Longmire… Born in Chicago in 1972, Chase earned a football scholarship to Duke, and a degree in Psychology. He has been working steadily since 1996… Born in Portland, Oregon in 1980, Sackhoff came to prominence in Battlestar Galactica, and also did a 20-episode arc on 24. There are 64 titles under her name… Cassidy Freeman as the Sheriff’s daughter, and Adam Bartley as a Deputy also appear in every episode and are fine, as is Louanne Stevens, the faithful secretary, who is in 49. The series is based on the novels of Craig Johnson, of which there are at least 20. Below, left to right, are Taylor, Sackhoff, Bartley, Chase, Freeman and Phillips. Photo from Google Images:
Couldn’t ask for a better day to sell stuff curbside. My thanks to Rob, who delivered seven softcovers, and to Sam, who donated ten DVDs; and to the woman who bought Belinda by Anne Rice writing as Anne Rampling, and four kids books that included one in Hebrew; and to the lady who purchased two books in Spanish and one in Chinese; and to Ira, who took home Killer History: A Gruesome and Grisly Trip Through the Past by Clive Gifford; and to the gentleman who selected the DVD of Moonrise Kingdom (2012).
