Short Takes

It seems pot shops are becoming as ubiquitous as nail salons in my Brooklyn neighborhood of Sheepshead Bay.

Here’s one for the all-time rationalizations hall of fame. Headline from nypost.com: “Washington Post reporter says shoplifting not a big deal because US built on ‘stolen land’.”

The coalition that Bob Costas calls a cult marches on. Headline from newsmax.com: “Trump Wins Michigan, Missouri, Idaho in Dominant Show of Force.”

Among the celebrations of March 3rd, it’s National Cold Cuts Day. I’m in — but just for today. I don’t dare eat that stuff very often these days, unfortunately. Photo from Google Images:

It’s also Talk in Third Person Day. Photo from GI:

It was more like mid-spring today, perfect for selling stuff curbside. My thanks to Gordie, who dropped off a couple of prime hardcovers, and to the kind folks that bought stuff. Here’s what sold: a piece of costume jewelry, two books in Russian; Being Henry: The Fonz . . . and Beyond by Henry Winkler; The Early Christian Church by Henry Chadwick; When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops? by George Carlin; The Betrayal of Work: How Low-Wage Jobs Fail 30 Million Americans by Beth Shulman; Power for Living by Jamie Buckingham; Freedom in Exile: The Autobiography of The Dalai Lama; The Gifts of the Spirit by Derek Prince; How to Say It: Choice Words, Phrases, Sentences, and Paragraphs for Every Situation by Rosalie Maggio; The Bill of Obligations: The Ten Habits of Good Citizens by Richard Haass; Natural Cures “They” Don’t Want You to Know about by Kevin Trudeau; The Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk… Special thanks to Wolf, who purchased three pairs of sneakers and The Greatest Generation by Tom Brokaw.
