Short Takes
Has Senator Fetterman really moved toward the center or is he merely politicking? O strange new world that has such people in it, paraphrasing Shakespeare.
Sharp eye, good luck — a woman bought the vase below at a Goodwill shop for $3.99. It is Murano and fetched $107,100 at auction. Kudos.
Headline from newsmax.com: “Dem Arizona Gov. Orders Guardsmen to Border: Admin ‘Refusing’ to Do Job.” Better late than never — I think.
Will there be a more amusing headline today than this one from NM? “Report: Dem Staffer Filmed Sex Tape in Senate Building.” And it isn’t close to the worst that happens there, especially the screwing of taxpayers.
From NM: “US Homelessness Up 12% to Highest Reported Level.” Will the press use the equivalent of Hooverville as it did in the ‘30’s? Yeah, and monkeys…
Attention those who gamble on sports — it’s National Underdog Day. Remember — bet with your head, not over it.
Nice return at the floating book shop on this beautiful, mild day. My thanks to those who bought and swapped. Here’s what sold: six books in Russian, four kids’ books, The Pelican Brief by John Grisham, The Vendetta Defense by Lisa Scottoline, Dust to Dust by Tami Hoag, an 87th Precinct novel by Ed McBain, Honeymoon by James Patterson & Howard Roughan, Emotional Intelligence by Brandon Goleman, 60 Ways to Lower Your Blood Sugar: Simple Steps to Reduce the Carbs, Shed the Weight, and Feel Great Now! by Dennis Pollock and Paul Saneman; and Hirohito And The Making Of Modern Japan by Herbert P. Bix, which I doubted would ever sell. Even with all that it was still quite a chore getting everything into the car.
