Short Work
Correction: in yesterday’s segment about Rear Window (1954) I incorrectly cited the character that Jimmy Stewart played as “Scotty.” It was Jeff, short for Jeffries. He played “Scottie” in Vertigo (1958). Also, I made it seem as if Jeff had witnessed the murder when only his suspicion had been aroused. Duh! My thanks to Miss Connoli for setting things straight.
Headline from nypost.com: “Twerkers of the world unite: Chippendales men vote to unionize.” What kind of coverage would it be?
Headline from newsmax.com: “DNA Study Reveals Christopher Columbus Was Jewish.” Oy vey iz mir. Given the bad press he receives these days, the tribe may not want America’s founder.
Headline from foxnews.com: “Country singer abruptly pauses concert as wife gives birth on tour bus.” Meet Brantley Gilbert and family. Photo from Google Images:
Until now I’d doubted it, certain it was simply partisanship, but it looks like Michigan’s governor really is an idiot. From FN: “Gretchen Whitmer apologizes for Doritos video critics say mocked Christian sacrament.” Take this and eat it, it is my brain.
I had a lot more to say but inadvertently deleted a book report I spent an hour on this morning. I’ll redo it manana. I tried a system restore but it wouldn’t work, which may mean I’ve been hijacked, although the PC seems to be working fine except for the highlighting that occasionally occurs when I’m doing the blog. One misplaced stroke and poof! Then again, it may be user error. Fie!
It was surprisingly warm today at the Anti-Inflation Book Shop. My thanks to local porter Robert, who delivered about 50 books, about 20 of which went to the free kiosk. My thanks also to the kind folks who bought. Here’s what sold: four pieces of 3D art, a DVD of In Time (2011), a thriller; I Am Malala: How One Girl Stood Up for Education and Changed the World by Malala Yousafzai & Patricia McCormick; The Wisdom of Truth: 12 Essays by the Holy Kabbalist Rav Yehuda Ashlag and Michael Berg; The Girls of Mischief Bay by Susan Mallery; Firefly Lane by Kristen Hannah; The Girl Guide to Moving On by Debbie Macomber; Gail-Jin by James Clavell; A Private Cathedral by James Lee Burke; Eating your Way To Good Health by Doug Kaufmann: and The Outsider by Stephen King, which was paid for through Paypal, my second ever such sale.
