Shout-Outs

A two-page spread in today’s NY Post reports an interesting trend — video birthday shout-outs by celebrities, for a fee, of course. Comedian and SNL alum Norn MacDonald charges $175, actor Wesley Snipes $500, musician Tommy Lee $350, former NFL QB Michael Vick $1000 (you gotta be kiddin’ me), porn legend Ron Jeremy $200, Stormy Daniels $250. I bet the latter two raise guffaws from celebrants. Whatever — the money-making ideas that folks come up with in this still free society are fascinating. For a full list, check out the Post’s website. Here’s a partial:

One of the best sidebars from Bibi Netanyahu’s re-election will be the rants it raises from leftists.

What exactly is shocking about AG William Barr’s comments that the Trump campaign and presidency was spied on — the dirty deed itself or the fact that it has finally been mentioned by the mainstream media? Real journalists such as John Solomon and Sara Carter have been pursuing the story for two years. Conservative talk radio host Sean Hannity believes the so-called Gang of Eight is going to jail. I think he is going to be disappointed. My guess is they will skate on legal technicalities. As for the arch-conspirator — if history has taught us anything, it’s that the only one who won’t be incarcerated is Mrs. Clinton. Saint Obama will also escape unscathed. A wild card in all this is Wikileaks mastermind Julian Assange, who has been arrested in the UK and will probably be extradited to the U.S., although that may take a while. Will that lead to the unearthing of more damning political dirt? And by the way, former Obama White House counsel Gregory Craig has been indicted for lying to the Department of Justice about shenanigans involving the Ukraine. According to what I’ve heard on talk radio, Joe Biden and son also are involved in misdoings with that country. Don’t expect much on this in the mainstream media unless the stories go big.

A remarkable sports career came to an end last night. After 21 years in the NBA — all with the Dallas Mavericks — Dirk Nowitzki is retiring. A 14-time all-star, he averaged 20.7 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. He was the playoffs MVP in 2011 when the Mavs won it all, and the league MVP in 2007. He stands sixth all-time in scoring. And he did it all with class. I do not recall a single scandal that involved him. Kudos, sir.

Business continues to be extremely slow at the floating book shop. A shout-out to Ira, who bought a pictorial and an instructional on playing the harmonica.
