Interesting aspect of the immigration battle. Headline from newsmax.com: “DHS: Most Migrants in Biden Parole Plan Landing in Fla.” Actually, it goes way beyond a single issue. The administration hopes to flood the Sunshine State with voters who will drive it leftward.

Among the many celebrations of May 2nd, it’s National Day of Reason. Good luck with that in these times.

RIP music master Duane Eddy, 86, who was a major influence on many rockers. Born in upstate New York, he was playing guitar at five. He hit his stride in the late ’50s, banging out a number of hits, selling twelve millions records by 1963. His debut album, Have ‘Twangy’ Guitar Will Travel, hit #5 on the U.S. charts in ’58. His next two LPs cracked the top 25. In all he released more than 25 albums, including compilations. Three of his singles were top ten hits: Rebel-’Rouser #6 in ’58, Forty Miles of Bad Road #9 in ’58, Because They’re Young #4 in ’60. Several others cracked the top 40. He received two Grammy nominations, winning Best Rock Instrumental for the reissue-collaboration with the Art of Noise, Peter Gunn, 1986. Eddy was the first rock star to have a signature model guitar, issued by the Guild Guitar Company. Gretsch and Gibson followed suit. He produced albums for Phil Everly and Waylon Jennings. He collaborated with many artists, including Paul McCartney, Jeff Lynne, Ry Cooder, John Fogerty, George Harrison, Steve Cropper and Foreigner. IMDb lists eight films for which he composed the soundtrack or played on it. His music was used in Forrest Gump (1994), Natural Born Killers (1994) and Grease 2 (1982). He also has seven credits as an actor. His fourth marriage lasted from 1979 until his passing. He was a father of four. Kudos on an incredible run, Sir. Facts from Wiki, photo from Google Images:

It evolved into a perfect day for doing business curbside. My thanks to Candy, who donated two works of fiction, and to the gentleman who took home a Holiday CD collection and one by Bob Seger; and to the dad who bought a kids’ book, two sets of flash cards, two cookbooks and Household Hints & Handy Tips by Editors of Reader’s Digest; and to Steve, poet laureate of Sheepshead Bay, who purchased the huge bio Ernst Krenek: The Man and His Music by John L. Stewart, and the audiobook of Laura Lippman’s No Good Deeds; and to the gentleman who selected a hardcover in Russian.
