Signs

It’s your move, Mr. President. How odd that Iran has suffered back to back disasters in a span of hours, although one occurred before the missile attack, so it can’t be dubbed karma. A jet crash in Tehran killed all the Ukranians on board, and a magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck near a nuclear power plant in the country’s southwest. Trump has said God is on our side. I wish I believed that. If there is a God, hasn’t history proved He is neutral or indifferent? Billions of innocents have been killed. Of course, I believe America is in the right and the world’s best hope, despite its sins. So far, Iran has refused to hand over the plane’s black box.

In these troubling times humor is vital. Here’s an amusing headline from foxnews.com: “2 teen snowboarders lost in Canadian back country burned homework to survive.”

“Here comes the Judge.” Have the Giants hired the right man? Time will tell. Expect local sportswriters to have a field day using his name in quips, especially if things don’t work out well.

I don’t get what the big deal is about stealing signs in baseball. Let every team do it. Hey, come back with that!

I’m a little cranky. After reading a proof copy of my latest novel, I corrected the errors I found, resubmitted the Word file, and received an email that approval was a few days away. That was two weeks ago. I just sent a second inquiry after the first was deemed to be of insufficient information. I want to review a second proof copy before I announce the book’s publication, but it would be stupid to order another until I’m sure the corrections are there. Argh!

Upon the first sale of each session of the floating book shop I tell myself: At least it won’t be zero, a figure I came close to for the second straight day. My thanks to the young man who bought Dexter’s Final Cut from the popular series by Jeff Lindsay. I’ve never seen the TV show or read any of the novels. I’ve had just as much of my fill of serial killers as I’ve had of super heroes.
