I post positive images to remind myself there is good in the world despite vast evidence to the contrary in the 24/7/365 news cycle. Even this beautiful shot fails to lift my spirits today. Zagreb, Croatia. Artists perform at the opening ceremony of the annual Festival of Lights. Photo by Xinhua/Rex/Shutterstock, posted at theguardian.com:

Liberals must be deliriously happy with the illegal aliens who stormed through the border and celebrated in the face of guards. Kudos to the officers who showed remarkable restraint by not opening fire. Are other countries laughing at us?

Maybe the yahoos will now shut up about Princess Kate. Blessings to her and her beautiful family.

Headline from nypost.com: “Leftist realizes killing nuclear power means more C02 emissions, news at 11.” Duh. And the minerals needed for electric car batteries come from strip mining. And 80% of the electricity needed to charge EVs comes from fossil fuels.

RIP NFL veteran Don Smerek, 66, who succumbed to cancer. Born in Michigan, he grew up in Nevada and attended the university, earning All-Conference honors in 1979 as a defensive lineman, the team finishing 11–0. He was undrafted and signed with the Cowboys, for whom he played eight seasons. He battled injuries throughout his career. While on injured reserve in 1981, he was shot during a traffic dispute. He survived because of his size and condition. He started only four games, serving mostly as a pash-rush specialist. He had 14.5 sacks. He is survived by his wife and four siblings. Well done, Sir. The weather was a lot friendlier today, but still nippy. My thanks to The Quiet Man, who bought six DVDs, and to the gentleman who purchased a pair of ladies’ boots; and to the Cook Book Lady, who took home Southern Tastes, on which I was unable to find any info; and to Ira, who chose New York: The Movie Lover’s Guide: The Ultimate Insider Tour of Movie New York by Richard Alleman ; and to the woman who selected Building Bridges: Engaging Students at Risk Through the Power of Relationships (Building Trust and Positive Student-Teacher Relationships) by Don Parker; and to the one who donated three hardcovers in Russian.
