Maxwell Smart, America is being overrun by KAOS — help!

Headline from nypost.com: “Let’s be blunt: Legal weed is turning New York workers into zombies.” No matter the time of day, the aroma is in the air, and the coughing is riotous. I try not to laugh out loud.

From the column of NY Post sports media critic Phil Mushnick: “… the Phillies’ $1 Hot Dog Night turned into a riot of sorts as the lower stands were attacked by franks, rolls, ketchup, mustard and relish thrown from the upper stands in a one-way food fight.” Is this more evidence of the sickness of America’s soul?

Headline from foxnews.com straight out of Compton: “WATCH: Huge mob ransacks gas station, steals thousands in products as cops left ‘outnumbered’.” Unsurprisingly, one pol deemed it protest against poverty and segregation. Where will the next copycat event occur? Will any receive the attention January 6th does?

This sounds scary, from FN: “2 NY residents allegedly ran secret Chinese police station: ‘Significant national security matter’.” “Forget it, Jake. It’s Chinatown.”

PC madness continues, FN headline out of the UK: “Female teacher fired, forced to apologize after saying ‘good afternoon, girls’ to students: report.” According to the article by Jeffrey Clark, the eleven-year-olds objected because not all of them identify as female.

A bit of sanity, from FN: “Ohio school district allows staff to be armed: ‘Our schools will no longer be soft targets’.” It’s beginning to look as if every U.S. citizen should be armed.

The threatening weather took a lot of the fun out of the floating book shop today. My thanks to Ira, who bought three Sotheby auction books, and to the woman who took home the first three installments of the Tobey Maguire Spiderman movies; and to the woman who purchased a hardcover in Russian and coached a young man through the purchase of a novel and DVD in that language. I am blessed.

I know it’s naive but:
