For those who haven’t been paying attention, headline from foxnews.com on fentanyl: “New report sounds alarm on China’s role in destroying US families with deadly drug: ‘Destabilizing crisis’.” According to the article by Adam Shaw: “… estimated to have killed 75,000 Americans in 2023.” Mexican cartels are equally to blame. Maybe Nike and the pro sports leagus making millions from the red giant consider it collateral damage.
A Google search turned up this info via AI: “Yes, the UK is banning certain types of knives and machetes starting September 24, 2024.” Maybe one day all knives will be plastic, which would probably infuriate environmental zealots.
Blogger Sam Friedman has published a novella. No surprise, it’s about baseball, his main passion. He gave me a signed copy with a touching inscription thanking me for my help. I will begin reading this evening. It’s available in print as well as Kindle. May it sell a million.

Another gorgeous day, perfect for curbside business. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much action at the Anti-Inflation Book Shop. My thanks to the woman who donated a hardcover in Russian, and to the couple who bought The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Kabbalah by Michael Laitman and Collin Canright… Overwhelmed by donations, I’ll be leaving boxes of books on the street. The first load, fairly obscure non-fiction, was left out this morning. I will put out fiction tomorrow. Fortunately, there’s no rain in the forecast.
