Spin

From an article at foxbusiness.com by Kayla Bailey: “A frightening new study suggests that the Earth’s inner core has stopped spinning, and now scientists believe it could even reverse direction within the next decade.” Despite have lived more than 72 years, I had no clue the core spins. Not only that, it changes direction approximately every 70 years. According to a scientist, Earth’s crust and core are disengaged. “One can stop, and the other one can remain moving. So they’ll decouple. And the reason for that is there’s a liquid metal layer around the core.” I’ll worry about it as much as I do about the planet being struck by a comet or environmental catastrophe, that is, zilch. I wonder if climate zealots will spin it as caused by fossil fuels. It’s anyone’s guess if there will be any consequences this time. The situation was actually covered in a movie: The Core (2003), starring Aaron Eckhart and Hilary Swank. The tag at IMDb reads: “The only way to save Earth from catastrophe is to drill down to the core and set it spinning again.” 102,000+ users have rated it, forging to a consensus of 5.5 on a scale of ten. I’m debating whether to add it to my Netflix list. Here’s the fictional crew:

Five black Memphis cops allegedly beat a young black man to death. Although they have been charged, video of the event will be broadcast this evening. Expect the left to exploit it. Will it lead to rioting? I’m not optimistic.

It was a great day to do business curbside, as the mild January continues. My thanks to the ladies who swapped Russian titles, and to the woman who insisted on paying for two despite having dropped a ten into the sewer; and to Alice, thrilled her mom left her ten grand, who bought Blood Relations by Jonathan Moore; and to the woman who purchased a mix of kids’ books and Russian DVDs; and to Movie Buff, who read Coincidence and had nice things to say about it, and who selected a Reader’s Digest collection of four condensed novels and When the Thrill Is Gone by Walter Mosley; and to my Constant Benefactress, who donated three works of non-fiction, including an awesome art pictorial.
