Cave art estimated to be a thousand years old has been discovered in Alabama. Here’s an example from Google Images:

Headline from nypost.com: “Second-hand fentanyl fumes threaten Seattle bus drivers.” Users smoke it openly.

RIP country music legend Mickey Gilley, 86, who inspired the Urban Cowboy craze when his restaurant, Gilley’s, billed as “The World’s Largest Honky Tonk,” was used in the 1980 John Travolta-Debra Winger film. Born poor in Mississippi, he had 39 Top 10 country hits, including 17 #1’s. He opened a theater in his adopted hometown of Branson, Missouri, where he performed regularly. He also did some acting, eleven titles under his name at IMDb. And he hosted a TV show, Gilley’s Place, that showcased the talents of the genre’s artists. He embodied Americana. Well done, sir.

From the column of NYP sports media critic Phil Mushnick: “As suspects in violent crimes are daily arrested and arraigned in Nike-logo garb, one wonders if that embarrasses Nike or pleases its execs for reaffirming their marketing strategy?” Kudos once again, sir.

Headline from foxnews.com: “U2’s Bono, The Edge do surprise concert for Ukrainian troops in Kyiv.” Kudos, gentlemen.

My thanks to the gentleman who purchased Curious Sicilian just before the sprinkles intensified and forced me to close shop. And also to Sam, who in an email had nice things to say about Class of ’67, which he’d purchased recently, putting it into the black. I was wearing my high school football letter jacket, hoping it would attract attention. A gentleman stopped to tell me he played for Madison those same years. Final score: Lafayette 14, Madison 0. I didn’t mention it.
