Headline from newsmax.com: “Minnesota Dinner Theater Scraps ‘Cinderella’ Because of Too-White Cast.” This calls to mine a lyric by a Minnesota native: “I would not feel so all alone/Everybody must get stoned.” Rainy Day Women 12&35.

From an article at foxnews.com by Brian Flood, edited by yours truly: “Texas lifted the state’s mask mandate earlier this month, causing liberal media and politicians to panic with doom-and-gloom predictions, but coronavirus cases in the Lone Star state continue to fall, down 28% from two weeks ago. Quid Pro Joe referred to it as “Neanderthal thinking.” Unfortunately, migrants who may be infected are crossing the border, so the situation may change.

Also from FN: Sharon Stone had this to say in a recent interview: “I think cancel culture is the stupidest thing I have ever seen happen.” And: “Stop being so small.” Kudos. And here’s a headline about another actress: “Scarlett Johansson says she’s an actor, not a politician: ‘The other stuff is not my job.’”

Stone has written a memoir that will be available 3/30:

The weather went from icky to glorious during today’s session of the floating book shop. My thanks to the kind folks who bought, swapped and donated books. Most of the trade was in Russian. Here’s what sold in English: Dr. Mom by MD Marianne Neifert, Secrets of the Baby Whisperer: How to Calm, Connect, and Communicate with Your Baby by Tracy Hogg and Melinda Blau; Productivity Now by Jack Butterworth; News of the World by Paulette Jiles; and three Do Wop era CDs. Special thanks to the woman who informed me that a Russian hardcover without markings is The Winter of Our Discontent by John Steinbeck, one of my favorites. It influenced a bit of what I consider my best work, Killing. I am partial to work that gets life right. This edition has markings:
