RIP basketball Hall of Fame SF Chet Walker, 84. Born in Mississippi, he grew up in Benton Harbor, Michigan. A graduate of Bradley University, he led the Braves to the NIT Championship in ’60, earning the nickname Chet the Jet for his speed and agility. He was All-American in ’61 & ’62, second team in ’60. The school retired his #31. He was selected in the second round of the 1962 NBA draft by the Syracuse Nationals, the twelfth pick overall. The team relocated to Philadelphia in ’63. He was a key member of the ’67 championship squad. He played for the franchise until ’69, then joined the Bulls. In 13 pro seasons he averaged 18.2 PPG and 7.1 RPG. He was a seven-time All-Star. After his playing days, he was involved in the production of two TV movies and one theatrical release. In 1990 he shared an Emmy with five others for Outstanding Children’s Program, A Mother’s Courage: The Mary Thomas Story, which focused on NBA great Isaiah Thomas’ early life in Chicago. Walker also made a guest appearance on The White Shadow, and he wrote Long Time Coming: A Black Athlete’s Coming-Of-Age in America, assisted by Chris Messenger. Awesome, Sir. This may be the most amusing headline of the day. From NYP: “I quit my boring 9-to-5 to become a professional sex toy tester.” If any tester is looking for an assistant, I’ll work cheap.

The forecast was on the money, the rain moving out by 11AM, enabling the Anti-Inflation Book shop to get in a full session. Unfortunately, there was very little action.
