RIP actor Clu Gulager, 93. Born William Martin G. in Oklahoma, his dad gave him the nickname, as clu-clu birds were nesting at their home when Clu entered this world. His career spanned 1955- 2019, ending on a high note with an appearance in a possible masterpiece, Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. There are 165 titles under his name at IMDb, but that reveals only part of his canon. He was in 104 episodes alone on The Virginian and played Billy the Kid in 75 of The Tall Man. He was in at least five episodes of five popular series, and at least three of seven others. A dad of two, he was married 50 years when his wife passed away in 2003. Well done, sir. Thank you.

I waited until the shade was in place before setting up the floating book shop. Fortunately, an occasional breeze blew along 86th Street. My thanks to the little guy who bought a book in Chinese, two kids titles, and two school work books; and to the gentleman who purchased Blue Moon by Lee Child, the second copy sold this week; and to the elderly woman who took home Bittersweet by Danielle Steel and a large print edition of The Sight of the Stars by Belva Plain.
