Tasty Morsels

Even rock n roll rebels are vulnerable to PC. The Rolling Stones removed the classic Brown Sugar from their set list. Fans noticed. “How come you taste so good?”

I’m familiar with his name, but I don’t believe I’ve seen any of Dave Chappelle’s work, as I’m not a fan of stand up. A few minutes of it at a time is all I can take. Still, kudos to him and Netflix for refusing to kowtow to the know-it-alls who police pop culture.

Headline from nypost.com: “Record 4.3 million Americans quit their jobs in August.” Most of the losses came in the restaurant and hotel industries.

Here’s an interesting NYP headline: “Syria reopens to international tourists amid terror threats.” I’m off to a travel agency — not!

And another in the Ben & Jerry vein: “Acclaimed writer reportedly banning new novel from being translated to Hebrew.” Will it be translated into Chinese and Russian? Will it be sold in Iran? In red states?

Here’s a chart posted at NYP:

And here’s a new book:

Headline from newsmax.com: “Walgreens to Close Five San Francisco Pharmacies Due to Theft.”

Also from NM: “Trump NY Art Exhibition Closed Due to Threats.” The 30-piece show, Trump: Parallel Universe, is the work of Lena Ruseva. She claims it is not pro or contra the ex-president. Here’s one of the paintings:

Headline from foxbusiness.com: “Huge Social Security cost-of-living increase could accelerate trust’s depletion.” Hasn’t it already been depleted and replaced by IOU’s?

It was another good day for the floating book shop. My thanks to the kind folks who bought, donated and swapped books. The outgoing were a little more than the incoming, continuing the much needed reduction of inventory. Here’s what sold: DVDs of ten seasons of The Big Bang Theory, Punch Drunk Love (2002)and Scary Movie 3 (2003); Rogue, a thriller by Mark Sullivan; Run for Your Life by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge; a paperback in Russian, eight Harlequin romances and four volumes of Jack London translated into that language.
