In an op-ed piece in yesterday’s NY Post, Kevin Williamson offered interesting stats. According to federal estimates, NYC saw a net loss of 37,705 in population in 2017, 39,523 in ’18. He has moved to Texas. Apparently, city folks have joined those from upstate in the rush to the exits. Here’s something that may stem the exodus. Today’s Post reveals that 65% of Big Apple residents paid less taxes in 2018, only 6% paid more.

From foxnews.com, edited by yours truly: A study found that in 2017 illegal immigrants were a net consumer of taxpayer benefits worth more than $100 billion, not including the cost of enforcing the border.

According to the Weird But True column in the Post, a Nebraska man riding in an ambulance received help from an unusual source. The vehicle hit a pothole, and the ensuing jolt somehow slowed his heart rate down significantly from a dangerous level. New Yorkers take heart.

At our Easter gathering yesterday I teased a family friend about his Facebook posts, which lampoon leftists and praise the President. Kerry, a Vietnam vet, had a career in law enforcement and security in Jersey. He met Trump while working during the construction of one of the casinos. Eight year later he was on site at a helicopter crash that killed three of Trump’s associates. That day Kerry had lunch with Trump, who remembered his name despite the time span. He says Trump is “a regular guy.”

When I rolled up last evening I was happy and shocked to find the prime parking spot in terms of the floating book shop available. Once again the scaffold enabled me to work through light rain. My thanks to Ira, who bought Improving Your Memory for Dummies, and to Michael, who purchased a paperback romance for his subway ride; and to the young woman who chose Chicken Soup for the Soul for Pet Lovers; and to the gentleman who selected Elvis: My Best Man: Radio Days, Rock ’n’ Roll Nights, and My Lifelong Friendship with Elvis Presley by George Klein and Chuck Crisafulli; and to the guy who went home with a DVD of The Incredibles (2004) and a Gloria Estefan CD; and to the elderly couple who donated another batch of music in Russian.
