Thoughts on a Snowy Day

According to an article at newsmax.com, life expectancy in the USA has dropped by a year. I’m surprised it isn’t more, given the ancillary problems of violence, drug overdoses and suicides. It is now 77.8 overall, 75.1 for males, 80.5 for females. I wonder if feminists would be in an uproar if those latter numbers were reversed.

Headline from NM: “The US Is So Cold That Calves’ Ears Are Falling Off.” Farmers are putting panty hose over the heads of the animals.

On his radio show, Sean Hannity just made a great comment on the passing of Rush Limbaugh: “We just lost our best player and everybody else has to up his game.”

Bette Midler has said the Texas freeze may be God’s way of punishing Ted Cruz and John Cornyn for questioning the election results. I wonder if Texans who voted for Quid Pro Joe are asking why they have to suffer as well. Why hasn’t a conservative countered by saying the freeze is God’s way of showing the folly of eliminating fossil fuels?

I’m hoping to be back in business by Saturday. The shovel goes back in the car, as I will likely have to clear an area in front of the Chase bank big enough to accommodate the books display. I’m anticipating a faster melt of the white junk than last time. I filled time today walking the half-mile to the HSBC on Avenue U & E. 17th. Both ATM’s were out of cash. I then decided to try the one on Kings Highway, only to find it had closed down. As I was making the long trek home I realized I could get cash while paying for my groceries Saturday morning with my debit card — duh!
