Valentine’s Day in Tirana, Albania. REUTERS photo by Florion Goga, posted at theguardian.com:

Headline from nypost.com: “Randy NYC subway surfers caught having sex on top of MTA train: ‘Clowns’.” Two guys in Queens, above the Van Wyck, the train was moving. Are we close to having seen everything?

RIP MLB pitcher Don Gullett, 73. Born in Kentucky, he was all-state in football, basketball and baseball as a high school senior. He was a first-round pick of Cincinnati in 1969 and was in the majors by ’70, part of the Big Red Machine, at first pitching in relief. He was a member of the World Champions in’75-’76. He then signed with the Yankees and was part of the ’77 championship season. Injuries ended his career in ’78 at 27. He played nine seasons. His stats are stellar, 109–50, 3.11 ERA. His career is in the “What Might Have Been” category. He served as the Reds’ pitching coach from ‘93–2005. In ’86 heart problems began. Married since ’69, he was a father of three. Well done, Sir. Fodder for sci-fi writers. From NYP: “Delta passengers showered with maggots after they fell from plane’s overhead compartment.” Imagine the trailer: “First there were Snakes on a Plane. Now…!”

From NYP: “Putin makes surprise pick by backing Biden over Trump in rematch: ‘More experienced, predictable’.” Who is surprised by this?

Big Brother? Headline from newsmax.com: “Soros Moves to Control Second-Largest Radio Group in US.”

From a foxbusiness.com article by Danielle Genovese, edited by yours truly: “In January the typical U.S. household needed to pay $213 more for the same goods and services compared with a year ago, according to Moody’s Analytics chief economist Mark Zandi. Americans are paying on average $605 more each month compared with the same time two years ago and $1,019 more compared with three years ago.”

Sunshine, minimal wind — perfect conditions for curbside business. My thanks to the gentleman who bought three books in Russian, and to Alice, who purchased Chasing Willie Mays by Paul Kocak; and to my Constant Benefactress, who took home Playing for the Ashes by Elizabeth George.
