Headline from nypost.com: “12-year-old set to graduate from high school and college in the same month.” Show off. Here’s the little bugger:
The divisive madness continues. According to an article at newsmax, com, the current Jeopardy! champ may have flashed a white supremist symbol — three fingers. In a tweet a viewer “pointed out that it could be a reference to Donohue’s three wins on the show, since he previously held up two fingers in the last episode and one finger in the episode that aired last Friday.” I wonder what dark secret four fingers symbolizes.
Will the info in the following newsmax.com headline be bashed as that on hydroxychloroquine was?: “Repurposed Hepatitis C Drugs Could Boost COVID-19 Treatment.” With Quid Pro Joe in charge, don’t bet on it. I’m sure he’ll take credit for the 2021 first quarter GDP growth of 6.4% as well.
It’s no surprise that a black conservative would be vilified for saying America isn’t racist. It proves that bigotry is not exclusive but a common human foible.
Headline from foxnews.com: “Simon & Schuster not backing down from Mike Pence’s book after employee protest.” Kudos. I’m on the fence about the former VP, leaning negative, but he is just as American as the rest of us and should not have his right to free speech cut off by those who disagree with him.
I expected the floating book shop to be rained out, so I was elated to be able to set up. I bailed an hour early when it began to sprinkle. Turns out I should have stayed. Still, I’m happy with the modest return on a day I’d expected zero. My thanks to Movie Buff, who bought Max, a roman a clef of early Hollywood by Howard Fast, a collection of American plays, and a mystery whose title and author escape me; and to the young woman on her bike who selected two books in Russian, including an Agatha Christie collection, and also Funerals are Fatal by the master of mystery — in English; and to the sweet elderly women who donated an Edith Piaf bio in Russian. When they asked if I knew who she was, I sang the little sparrow’s most famous title, La Vie en Rose, which raised a chuckle from the pair. I didn’t divulge that it was the extent of my knowledge of her canon… Special thanks to Abdul the friendly porter, who for more than a decade periodically delivered books to me, and who is retiring at the end of this work day. 66, he looks at least a decade younger. All the best, sir.
