RIP Nelson DeMille, 81. Born in NYC, he grew up on Long Island, where as a high schooler he played football and ran track. He was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and saw action as an infantry platoon leader in Vietnam. He earned the Air Medal, Bronze Star, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and a Combat Infantryman Badge. He graduated from Hofstra. His Wiki profile lists more than 30 novels, seven works of short fiction, a book on Barbara Walters, and 18 anthologies to which he contributed. The General’s Daughter (1999) was adapted to the big screen, Word of Honor and Mayday to TV. I had the privilege of reading The Gold Coast, one of the few mysteries/crime novels I’ve enjoyed, as it includes so much more, so much about life. I’ve sold many of his books through the years, two recently. He wrote under four other names. He was a father of three. Awesome, Sir. Thank you. Facts from Wiki, photo from Google Images:

Headline from nypost.com out of Norway: “Electric vehicles now outnumber gas guzzlers in this oil-wealthy country: ‘A milestone few saw coming’.” Fossil fuel revenue enables universal healthcare in the nation. Is EV use penance for the alleged cause of global warming? Fascinating.

The FBI did not include big cities such as NYC and Chicago when it published a report that overall crime was down in the USA. Here’s the last line of an NYP editorial that sets the record straight: “The DOJ, however, did not change its methodology,” and per its latest numbers, “crime is much higher under the Biden-Harris administration than it was during [Trump’s] presidency.”

Headline from newsmax.com: “Car Insurance Rates up 55 Percent Under Biden-Harris.”

Not much action at the floating book shop on this beautiful breezy day, but no incoming — yay! My thanks to the young female hospital worker who bought four kids books, including this one, photo from GI:
