I won’t read this article. Headline from nypost.com: “Millions of Americans take multivitamins to prevent disease — but here’s why they shouldn’t.” The frequent back and forth on this stuff is maddening.

Since I already know where the candidates stand on issues, I will not watch tonight’s debate, although I realize there is high drama regarding Biden’s condition. For those who don’t know, the husband of the female moderator was one of the 51 liars who signed the document alleging Hunter’s laptop issue was Russian disinformation.

First quarter GDP has been revised down from 1.6 to 1.4 %.

From NYP: “Nearly half of American electric vehicle owners want to go back to gas-powered cars: study.” And from foxnews.com, more evidence EVs should be parked a safe distance from homes: “NFL receiver Randall Cobb, family ‘lucky to be alive’ after escaping house fire started by Tesla charger.”

Among today’s many celebrations is one of my favorites — National Ice Cream Cake Day. Photo from Google Images:

RIP actor Spencer Milligan, 87. Born in Chicago, his screen career spanned 1973–2020, his last appearance coming after a hiatus of more than 30 years. There are 33 titles under his name at IMDb. His debut came in Woody Allen’s Sleeper (1973), but from there his appearances were largely in TV. He was in 30 episodes of Land of the Lost, four of Quincy, M.E. and seven of General Hospital. He is survived by his wife and three godchildren. Well done, Sir. Photo from GI:

RIP actor Bill Cobbs, 90. Born in Cleveland, he contracted the acting bug rather late, at 36. He was comfortable on the stage as well as TV and film. There are 200 titles under his name at IMDb, screen career spanning 1974 to the present, five works to be released posthumously. He was in the original The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974), Trading Places (1983), The Cotton Club (1984), The Color of Money (1986), Suspect (1987), New Jack City (1991) to name just six. On the small screen he was in 20 episodes of The Slap Maxwell Story, 13 of Homeroom, 13 of I’ll Fly Away, 21 of The Gregory Hines Show, 13 of The Others, nine of The Michael Richards Show, nine of The Drew Carey Show, ten of Go On. He won an Emmy for Outstanding Limited Performance in Daytime Program, Dino Dana. Excellent, Sir. Photo from GI:

At last a decent haul for the Anti-Inflation Book Shop. My thanks to the kind folks who ponied up. It was all outgoing today except for a thin Russian paperback. Here’s what sold: two kids’ books, three hardcovers in Russian; The Midwife Murders by James Patterson & Richard DiLallo; five DVD copies of popular fare; Office Space (1999) on DVD; a thriller with Bomber in the title; Uncle John’s Bathroom Puzzler: 365 Logic Puzzles; three audio books: The Late Show by Michael Connelly, an 87th Precinct thriller by Ed McBain, and Pointing from the Grave: A True Story of Murder and DNA by Samantha Weinberg.
