Thursday’s Finds
Arthur Lake, Kenter Canyon Elementary, L. A., 1976, photo by Hugh Holland, posted at theguardian.com. I wonder what the kid’s up to these days.
May it be so. Headline from nypost.com: “Europe finally gets it: pony up and help defend yourselves.”
From NYP: “Kathy Hochul bashes Elon Musk — but then taps Al Sharpton for advice.” Can you say pander, boys and girls? It would be funny if it weren’t so sad.
From 35 Interesting Bits of Pop Culture Trivia That Have Been Topping All the Charts by Jesse (no last name cited) at msm.com, a film I enjoyed much more than the novel from which it was adapted:
Among today’s celebrations, it’s Clean Out Your Bookcase Day. I’ll leave the box near my usual book nook.
Cool trivia culled from Five Things to Know about Bond, James Bond by AFP at msm.com: “One big name who gave Bond an early boost was President John F Kennedy, who cited From Russia With Love in his top 10 books. Reportedly, it was also the last film he ever watched before leaving for Dallas in November 1963.”
I finished filing a return. What drudgery. For the second consecutive year I owe money, $2000+. I guess that will be the case until I die… Here’s a hopeful headline from foxnews.com: “Inside Trump’s plan to ‘abolish’ the IRS — and what it would mean for your money.” How about the long-discussed flat tax or a national sales tax to replace that misbegotten institution?… It’s not finished. I just spotted an email stating my federal return has been rejected. Fie!
From FN, more news about the left’s boogeyman, Elon Musk: “SpaceX engineers deployed to FAA to help modernize air traffic control. How dare he! What a terrible person!
RIP Super Bowl champion Mike Collier, 71. Born in Baltimore, he played collegiately at Morgan St.. In 1975 he was selected in 14th round of the NFL draft by the Steelers, the 364th pick overall. He was a member of Pittsburgh’s SB X team. He spent the ’76 season on injured reserve, teaching Phys. Ed. at a Yeshiva in his hometown. He then signed with the Bills, playing for them from ‘77-’79. Overall, he scored six TDs. After his football career ended, he managed a grocery store. He was a father of three. Well done, Sir. Photo from GI:
I made a mistake and bailed on the Anti-Inflation Book Shop after an hour or so, thinking there wouldn’t be any more sunshine. At least I got the aforementioned and laundry done. Almost through the cold spell, and another day closer to spring.
