Time Travelers
A fun article on time travel by Alex Mitchell at nypost.com included lookalike pics, some of which seem a stretch. I find the following three uncanny, photos from Google Images. First up, Keanu Reeves:
Matthew McConaughey in the 19th Century:
Nicolas Cage in the 1870’s:
NYP caption poking fun at Vlad, who perhaps escaped from another time period after wreaking havoc: “A Czech Republic official pushed a mock movement to annex Russia’s Kaliningrad in a now-viral social media post — and he even held a ‘referendum’ on Twitter.” Kudos, sir.
I don’t know if shutting down the Keystone Pipeline is the worst ever government move, but it’s up there. Reopening it would be tantamount to admitting a mistake, and politicians are not likely to do that. More likely they will double down on horrendous energy policies.
Scary headline from foxnews.com: “DEADLY TRICK: Parents warned to keep eye on candy this Halloween as fentanyl crisis spirals.” I wonder how many folks would like to escape from this demoralizing time period.
From FN: “Electric vehicles are exploding from water damage after Hurricane Ian, top Florida official warns.” Would time machines be electric or powered by fossil fuels?
RIP radio mainstay Bernard McGuirk, who succumbed to cancer at 64. Born in the South Bronx, he was a big part of the mid-80’s comeback of Imus in the Morning. I laughed at many of his antics and comments. Of course he occasionally went too far and was subject to suspension and dismissal. I bailed on the show when it resorted to Bush bashing regarding the war on terror. It was not unreasonable, but not something I wanted to hear following 9/11. McGuirk followed Imus’ move to WABC and, when the icon retired, teamed with another controversial figure, Sid Rosenberg. He is a dad of a son and daughter. Thanks for the laughs, sir.
The incoming surpassed the outgoing at the floating book shop on this gorgeous day. My thanks to my Constant Benefactress, who donated a huge pictorial on Contemporary Russian Art, and to the woman who insisted on paying for it despite having donated about ten books; and to Ira, who treated me to a bottle of water and bought Cosmic Time Travel: A SCIENTIFIC ODYSSEY by Barry Parker; and to the young mom who purchased The Art of Thank You: Crafting Notes of Gratitude by Connie Leas; and to the woman who took home 11th Hour by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro; and to the one who chose a book of numbers puzzles. I am blessed.
