Today’s Chorus
Some pundits speculate that the Trump indictments are calculated to boost his popularity so that he will be the nominee and surely lose, and others believe the indictments make his election likely. Stay tuned.
Unsurprising headline from nypost.com: “German trucker rams into climate protester blocking intersection, drags him to side of road.”
Closing lines of an NYP editorial: “Democrats are right about one thing: There is a culture war raging in America. And they touched it off, expecting little resistance. Now there’s serious pushback, and they don’t like it.”
Is this an act of war? Headline from foxnews.com: “Russian fighter jet opens fire on US drone targeting ISIS forces, causing major damage.”
From FN, another win for the good guys: “Florida burglar thwarted by elderly homeowner who held him at gunpoint: cops.” The creep was recently out of jail. No shots fired.
This may be the most amusing headline of the day, from FN: “Seattle woman occupies tree scheduled to be cut down for affordable housing units.”
Evidence that life has never been as topsy-turvy as it is now is constant. Here’s more, from FN: “Civil rights activist Bob Woodson defends Jason Aldean against claims of racism: ‘Must protect our community’.”
RIP actress Pamela Blair, 73. The name did not ring a bell when I saw the death notice. I may have seen her in A Chorus Line in the ‘70’s, one of many Broadway shows she graced, and on a 1994 episode of Law & Order. Here are other productions in which she had a part: Promises, Promises, Seesaw, Of Mice and Men, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, King of Hearts, The Nerd, A Few Good Men, and Sugar, the stage musical version of Some Like It Hot, in which she played Sugar Kane, the role made famous by Marilyn Monroe. She was also a significant presence on the big and small screen. There are 19 titles beneath her name at IMDb. She appeared in Annie (1982), Mighty Aphrodite (1995) and 21 Grams (2003). She also did 21 episodes of four soap operas. Well done, Madam. Facts also from Wiki. Photo from Google Images:
Once the shade engulfed my usual book nook it was really pleasant, fanned by a friendly breeze. My thanks to the kind folks who swapped and bought books, especially the woman and man who generously overcompensated me. Here’s what sold: six paperbacks by Danielle Steel, The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett; The Last Odyssey by James Rollins; Sacred Sins by Nora Roberts; Wish You Well by David Baldacci; Elizabeth I, a novel by Margaret George; and this, photo from GI:
