Tough Love

An Indiana homeowner has come up with a clever idea for Halloween 2020:

Maybe this is wrong, but I wonder if Joe Biden would be facing this scandal if he’d practiced tough love on his son somewhere along the line. Now the DNC has even more reason to ditch him if he’s elected.

Recently, rapper 50 Cent, appalled by Biden’s tax proposals, endorsed the President. Now there’s this from a foxnews.com headline: “Charlamagne Tha God says Trump connects with young Black voters.” I’ve been skeptical of polls showing the Commander in Chief has 25% support among Blacks. I hope I’m wrong.

Headline from nypost.com: “Chris Christie says it was ‘serious failure’ not to wear mask at White House.” Okay, but an obese guy with underlying conditions survived the virus… While we’re in Jersey — Governor Murphy is self-quarantining as two of his aides have tested positive. Were they wearing masks or was Murphy and his team simply paying lip service to the issue? And, having contracted the virus, had they been wearing masks most of the time? If so, doesn’t that damage the mask scenario?

As of Thursday, NYC has had 1235 shootings in 2020, a 92.4% increase from the same period last year. (Fox News)

Here’s a snippet from an FN article, edited by yours truly: More than 45 million total ballots have been cast as of Thursday. In 2016 5.9 million ballots were cast within a similar time frame. Wow. It’s the reason I believe Biden will win.

Here’s news that’s amusing and sad at once, FN headline: “Billionaire Paul Singer to relocate massive NYC hedge fund to Florida.” And a snippet from the article, edited by YT: “Republican Senator Rick Scott said he sends thank you notes to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio ‘all the time’ because they ‘send more people to Florida than anybody else.’”

RIP Tom Yewcic, 88, a member of the Patriots 1960’s All-Decade Team. A QB and punter, he played from 1961-’65, when the franchise was based in Boston. Before that he helped Michigan St. win the 1954 Rose Bowl. Earlier that year he was named the College World Series Most Outstanding Player. In 77 AFL games he had twelve TD passes, 424 yards rushing and seven receptions for 69 yards. I had no recollection of him, but decided to give him a shout out because he also played in MLB, one game for Detroit. He did not get a hit in his only at-bat. He logged three innings at catcher. Kudos, sir.

Following in her sister’s footsteps, here’s Noah Cyrus at last night’s CMT Awards:

For the third straight day sparse sprinkles took the joy out of the floating book shop. My thanks to Wolf, who bought a Lisa Genova translation in Russian. We schmoozed for a bit. I learned his family was forced out of the Soviet Union to Poland in the 50’s. The Polish Communist Party eventually forced them to move to Israel, where they remained until 1962 before emigrating to the USA. Thanks for sharing the info, Sir.
