Tough Times

There’s a new symptom of Corona. It produces a strange buzzing sensation throughout the body. It’s been dubbed “Fizzing.”… Among the conspiracy theories floating around, some believe 5G radio waves spread the virus. Since they are invisible, can the theory even be refuted?… The PGA tour is considering re-opening without the presence of fans. I thought that should have been instituted from the get-go. Is there an easier place in the world to practice social distancing than a golf course? And people need diversion, which even a stripped down production would provide… As for the NYC schools reopening — I think that should wait until September. The fact that it’s even being considered suggests that the online substitute is sorely lacking… There is a movement underway to have Dr. Fauci fired. Is it justified? This morning talk radio host Mark Simone, an ardent supporter of President Trump, pointed out how wrong Fauci has been. In January, February and March, only four weeks ago, he deemed the virus low risk. So did a lot of other so-called experts. Expect a mainstream media firestorm if he’s given the boot. Would it backfire on the administration? Is the reverence for Fauci rooted largely in the left and their media allies, or is it more widespread?… For the past six days the number of hospitalizations in NYC has decreased. May the trend continue.

I wish the rest of the blog had better news.

RIP Hilary Heath, 73, who succumbed to complications from Corona. Born in Liverpool, she had a nice career on stage and screen and behind the camera, billed as Dwyer before she married. She co-starred with Vincent Price in Witchfinder General (1968), as his mistress, The Oblong Box (1969), as his fiance`, and Cry of the Banshee (1970), as his daughter. Among the 26 titles under her name at IMDb are appearances on The Prisoner, one of the most discussed shows in history despite there being only 17 episodes; and Space 1999, which was her swan song in 1976. In 1983 she turned to producing, mostly in Brit TV, where she amassed 15 credits. She also ran a talent agency with her husband that was eventually absorbed by ICM. She was a mum of two. Well done, madam.

RIP Tavaris Jackson, 36, who perished in an automobile accident. A second round pick out of Alabama St. in the 2006 draft, he had a five-year NFL career, largely as a backup QB. He was MVP of his college league championship game in 2004. As a pro, he had 39 TD passes, six rushing. He was a member of the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks. He was serving as an assistant coach at his alma mater. Well done, sir.
