It seems sanitation men have disappeared from my area. I haven’t heard anything about a strike or slow down, but there are mounds of garbage everywhere, some huge. Fortunately it’s not the smelly kind.

Headline from nypost.com: “‘American Dream doesn’t exist’: Fed-up migrants who trekked thousands of miles to US already heading home.” Take care.

Amusing headline from NYP: “Donald Trump Reportedly Hung Up On Kim Kardashian After Tense Phone Call: ‘You Voted For Biden And Now You Come Asking Me For A Favor?’”

Among 11/14’s celebrations is Loosen Up Lighten Up Day. Not easy at present but necessary. Here are amusing thoughts culled from parade.com:
I used to have a handle on life, but then it broke.
Never trust atoms; they make up everything.
People who use selfie sticks really need to have a good, long look at themselves.
Always borrow money from a pessimist. They’ll never expect it back.
I don’t suffer from insanity — I enjoy every minute of it.
Maybe if we start telling people their brain is an app, they’ll want to use it.
What’s the difference between ignorance and apathy? I don’t know and I don’t care.
Adam & Eve were the first ones to ignore the Apple terms and conditions.
The man who invented Velcro has died. RIP.
Have you heard about the new restaurant called ‘Karma?’ There’s no menu — you get what you deserve.
And a perfect one for these times: Despite the high cost of living, it remains popular.

Headline from foxnews.com: “Record number of Americans moving to disaster prone areas.” And the caption: “Cities known for extreme heat ranked as the most popular destinations.”

RIP Conny Van Dyke, 78. Born in Virginia, she grew up in Detroit. She was Miss Teen USA in 1963. She began her professional career as a songwriter and recording artist and was signed by Motown, the label’s first white recording artist. She made only one record for it. She was spotted at an auto show and cast in Hell’s Angels ’69. There are 12 other titles under her name at IMDb, the most notable W.W. and the Dixie Dancekings (1975), in which she co-starred with Burt Reynolds. She made two albums in the ‘70’s. While they did not provide a springboard to her recording career, it led to more than 1000 appearances on game shows, and at venues such as Caesar’s Palace and Radio City Music Hall, and on telethons. A TV comeback in 2008 was derailed by a massive stroke. Married six times, she was a mom of one. Photo from Google Images:

It was a very satisfying session of the floating book shop, as I hadn’t expected much business because of the strong wind. My thanks to the woman who bought The Big Book of Breakfast: Serious Comfort Food for Any Time of the Day by Maryana Vollstedt, and to the gentleman who purchased a hardcover in Russian; and to The Frenchman, who took home Rooted in Design: Sprout Home’s Guide to Creative Indoor Planting by Tara Heibel and Tassy De Give, a Tchaikovsky CD and a Nat King Cole compilation; and to The Quiet Man, who selected Gone with the Wind (1939) on DVD and a number of various artists CD compilations; and to the woman who donated two books in Russian. I am blessed. Photo from GI:
