Although Rising Star, my rock n rock epic, is profitable, I’m disappointed a lot more copies haven’t sold. It’s the story of an ‘80’s band and the trappings of the trade, pure fiction not based on any real persons. An article by Adriana Diaz at nypost.com focuses on someone who has hit the jackpot with a similar novel. Here are excerpts, edited by yours truly: “Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid follows the rise and fall of a Fleetwood Mac-esque band as it gets mixed up in sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll in Los Angeles in the ’70s… The band was brought to life by Riley Keough (Lisa Marie Presley’s daughter), Sam Claflin, Suki Waterhouse, Will Harrison, Josh Whitehouse and Sebastian Chacon for the Amazon Prime Video show, adapted from the book… critically acclaimed songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Blake Mills partnered with other well-known musicians including Phoebe Bridgers, Marcus Mumford and Jackson Browne to create the album… Aurora topped the iTunes chart… The actors spent hours every day practicing their instruments, learning the music, perfecting their stage presence and hanging out as a real band…” The series will end after ten episodes. I am green with envy.

I don’t know why anyone would travel to Mexico, Narcoland, other than for business. How lucky are the two who survived?

Headline from foxnews.com: “White House, media accused of downplaying Atlanta’s ‘Cop City’ riots.” It doesn’t fit the narrative. Only the 1/6 riot, where some cops acted like tour guides for the protesters, does. All the others don’t count despite millions, if not billions in damage, and lost lives.

The floating book shop had nice luck today. I stayed at my usual nook despite the fierce wind blowing along Avenue Z, which had me chasing down items blown away. My thanks to my constant benefactress, who delivered a handful of non-fiction, and to the woman who donated a terrific cache of DVDs; and to the one who gave me three hardcovers in Russian; and to Wolf, who bought The Sopranos Season 3 DVD and All Necessary Force by Brad Taylor; and to the woman who purchased The Story of the Jews: A 4,000-Year Adventure by Stan Mack and Pulp Fiction (1994) on DVD; and to Alice, a convert to Judaism, who took home How Could This Happen: Explaining the Holocaust by Dan McMillan; and to the young couple who selected four novels in Russian. I be blessed.
