George Soros must be thrilled, headline from nypost.com: “Cartels sending migrant mobs of thousands to overwhelm the US border.” Then there’s this from foxnews.com: “DHS refuses to release data on illegal immigrants’ cartel ties, citing privacy concerns.” Does that seem kosher?

Sign of the times, from NYP: “Where’s the beef: Guards with assault rifles hired to protect Philly cheesesteak joint.”

From NYP: “Chicago mayor proposes city-owned grocery stores as Walmart, Whole Foods exits leave ‘food deserts’.” Isn’t the aim of the left government control of everything? Do we expect those who have caused the problems to solve them? Does anyone in government have a clue as to how to run a business? If society continues to decline, it would be a desirable option to many but likely a huge mistake.

I’d been having Cherrios, almost always Honey Nut, every morning for decades. This week none were on sale at Stop n Shop or CVS, so I opted for Reese’s Puffs. It’s not that I can’t afford it. The Sicilian in me simply won’t pay more than he believes an item deserves. I buy whatever OJ is on sale or the house brand, same for cereal bars. I think I would fail a taste test regarding the juice but not the bars.

Excerpt from a newsmax.com article by Charles Kim: “Hunter Biden is suing the Internal Revenue Service after two agency whistleblowers testified before the committee about attempts to block their investigation of Biden’s taxes.” Isn’t that sacrilege to the left, to his dad who hired hundreds of armed IRS agents?

Nice return at the floating book shop on this gorgeous day. My thanks to my Constant Benefactress, who insisted on paying for Dear Cary: My Life with Cary Grant by Dyan Cannon, despite donating Starring Miss Barbara Stanwyck by Ella Smith, which Herbie jumped on and intends to cherish, as it has 310 photos; and thanks to young Judah, who bought Stuart Little by E. B. White; and to the young beauty who overcompensated me for four CDs I burned long ago. Given her age, approximately 20, I wonder how many of the songs she will recognize.
