While watching a photo array at youtube last night, a fantastic shot came up. Albert and Helena Janak raised 14 children on their farm in Lavaca County, Texas. Eight of their 10 sons enlisted in the military during World War II and each survived. Wow!

Headline from nypost.com: “Red tape: LA wildfire victims forced to wait up to 18 months for toxic ash and debris removal before rebuilding.” Why bother to return at all? Go where your presence will be appreciated.

Highly skeptical of this. From NYP: “NYers’ unmistakable message to Dems: We’re sick of the lefty status quo.” I’ll believe it when I see it on Election Day.

Ride ’em, Cowgirl. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem makes horseback tour of US-Mexico border. Photo from NYP:

Love the logic. From NYP: “Hochul ripped as two-faced for backing NYC congestion pricing fee while blasting Trump tariffs: ‘Rank hypocrisy’.” Rank indeed.

This seems like a trend. Headline from newsmax.com: “Bill Ackman, Dropbox Leave Delaware as Corporations Pull Out.” Is it because they no longer have to please Quid Pro Joe?

This sounds good. Headline from foxnews.com: “White House expecting ‘spike’ in federal workers quitting as at least 20K take buyouts.” More-more!

RIP MLB stalwart Rich Dauer, 72, victim of a brain injury and stroke. Born in California, he played 3B on the USC 1973 & ’74 College World Series Championship teams. He was selected by Baltimore in the first round of the ’74 draft, the 24th pick overall. He spent his entire ten-year playing career with the O’s. He was a member of the ’83 World Champions. He holds two American League single season fielding records for a 2B: 86 consecutive errorless games, 425 straight errorless chances, each set in ’78. Overall, he batted .257 and socked 43 homers. He is a member of the Orioles Hall of Fame. A baseball lifer, he coached for five teams through 18 seasons: Cleveland, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Colorado and Houston, winning the World Series with the latter in 2017. Married since ’75, he was a father of three. Awesome run, Sir. Photo from Google Images:

It was a beautiful but breezy day. I packed up the Anti-Inflation Book Shop a half hour early when the wind began to be as violent as forecast. My thanks to the nanny who bought The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, and to the gentleman who purchased a package of adult diapers; and to the woman who took home I’m So Glad You Were Born: Celebrating Who You Are by Ainsley Earhardt & Kim Barnes; and to Alex, who chose a Russian translation of a Danielle Steel novel; and to the woman who donated three paperback romances in Russian; and to the gentleman who delivered four works of non-fiction.
