Two Cents
Here’s an unbelievable shot that came up last night in a youtube photo array. It’s John Wayne visiting a Marine installation in the Philippines while on a break from filming The Barbarian and The Geisha (1958). The man in the background, framed in white, would become a historic figure a few years later. Who is he? Answer below. Photo from Google Images:
Eminently qualified for a government position, headline from nypost.com: “Ex-con busted on drug, gun charges at NYC subway station works for anti-violence group in the Bronx.”
From NYP: “Biden has been shipping migrants to New York under Adams’ nose.” Can’t blame Texas governor Abbott for that, Eric.
Excerpt from an NYP editorial: “On last Friday’s seemingly good report, full-time workers dropped 6,000, while part-timers rose 691,000. Multiple job holders grew to 5.2% of total employment.” Partisan politics? Draw your own conclusion.
Damn, I’m old. I remember when it was two cents. Headline from newsmax.com: “Post Office Wants 73-Cent First-Class Stamp.”
For those who believe America is not liberal enough, good news: “Cornel West to Announce Running Mate on Wednesday.” I say again, how would a West or RFK administration differ from a Biden?
Among the many celebrations of April 10th, it’s Encourage a Young Writer Day. Go for it. No risk, no reward. Nothing to lose, a lot to gain.
Headline from foxnews.com: “The biggest corporate welfare scam ever is green.” Most of the companies would go under without it. I am an unabashed capitalist. If a firm can’t make it on its own or with private funding, too bad.
Another “unexpected” bump in inflation — anyone surprised?
Will the mainstream media ever get around to covering protesters shouting “Death to America” within the borders of the USA?
Long live America:
Mystery photo figure: Lee Harvey Oswald.
No book shop today, as I underwent a pet scan to see if I’m in immediate danger, if the nodules in my lungs and chest have grown. No fun, especially since the procedure began an hour late and I rode the train there and back. Six hours door to door. I’d anticipated three. Fortunately, the gloom has begun to lift, aided by Dr. Pepper.
