Let’s see — crime is soaring in NYC and the city council has come up with the perfect solution — reduce the Police department’s budget by one billion — a novel approach.

I was expecting the floating book shop to be rained out today. It was open for less than an hour, enough time for a couple of sales and for my constant benefactress to show with the donation she promised. She brought about 20 books, most of them on career building. My thanks, and also to the elderly Latina who purchased Stephen King’s Thinner, published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, and to the woman who bought a package of bamboo serving dishes.
