I have zero interest in soccer, even less in the female variety, but no one can deny the greatness of the following pic. The Orlando Pride’s Carson Pickett, 25, gives a “fist” bump to a one-year-old fan. Kudos, madam:
From foxnews.com, edited by yours truly: Just weeks after southern country rock band Confederate Railroad was removed from an Illinois state fair performance lineup over accusations its name is racist, it has been barred from performing at the Ulster County Fair in New Paltz, N.Y.. Here are the boys:
Also from FN, edited by YT: MLB history was made last night in Baltimore. Leading 10–8 going into the bottom of the 16th, the Orioles, relief corps depleted, sent CF Steve Wilkerson to the mound to close out the game. Lobbing pitches that averaged just under 55 miles per hour, he set the Angels down in order to record the first save by a non-pitcher since the stat began being counted in 1969. Kudos.
The weather continues to be glorious, which makes running the floating book shop fairly easy. My thanks to the lady and gentleman who each bought a book in Russian, and to the Quiet Man, who found four bootleg DVDs to his liking; and to the gentleman who selected a collection of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories; and to Arthur, who purchased two Charlie Brown paperbacks and Lisa Gardner’s The Third Victim; and to Ira, who asked about Present and Past and, when he found out I was the author, bought a copy, although he doesn’t read fiction, which is the reason I’d never told him about my work. He wanted it as a token. I signed it “Tailor Made” in honor of the trade he loved so much. He also chose a Ripley’s Believe It or Not paperback, which is the type of reading matter he loves. Special thanks to the former music producer who is waiting on the closing of the sale of his late mom’s co-op. Two weeks ago he gave me a large cache, almost all of which have sold. Today he gave me several more, mostly children’s classics. When he picked up Rising Star I said he was welcome to it as a thank you. I also let him have an R.E.M CD and a thin paperback on the blues. He said he’ll let me know where I went wrong. I was as vague as possible about the business end of rock n roll. I wanted to try to write a best seller and needed a popular topic, which my love of music provided. Little did I know when I began the novel that rock fiction has never sold well. Fans prefer real dirt on stars. Still, I don’t regret it. I believe it’s a good read.
