Check out the view from Summit One Vanderbilt, near Grand Central Station, scheduled to open in October. Its observation decks run three floors, 91–93. “… guests will also experience Air, a multi-sensory installation designed by Kenzo Digital that combines transparency, reflectivity and media effects to create “the illusion of boundless space.” (From nypost.com, article by Steve Cuozzo)

Here’s an epidemic few mention, headline from NYP: “Gun violence kills more Chicago kids than COVID-19.”

From an NYP article about marijuana by Matthew Walther: “Virtually every US perpetrator of a mass shooting has been a habitual pot user.” His argument is that it induces psychosis in some, therefore it should not be legalized. Although I don’t use pot, my instincts tell me that banning stuff that is dangerous to some would lead to half-empty shelves. I don’t gamble, but don’t want to see it banned, although I know a handful will go overboard and broke. Unfortunately, the piece does not cite other intended consequences of the legalization of weed, such as an increase in car accidents and fatalities.

What are the odds that woke General Milley will face a charge of treason?

From an article by Greg Norman at foxnews.com, in my own words: A former Pennsylvania state senator has put up several of these billboards in his state:

We see examples all the time of how American society has changed and continues to do so. Here’s another culled from an article by Emma Colton at FN, edited by yours truly: An Ohio county is assigning 642 Things to Write About by San Francisco Writers’ Grotto and Polly Bronson to high schoolers taking a college credit course. The material includes asking students to “write a sex scene you wouldn’t show your mom,” and “rewrite the scene from above into one that you’d let your mom read.” The mayor is threatening school board members with a charge of child porn if they do not resign. Seems like a battle between far left and far right, and who almost always win those?

The heat returned today. Setting up the floating book shop was sweaty work. My thanks to local porter Robert, who picked up a bottle of water for me, and to the three ladies who donated books; and to The MTA Lady, who bought To Pay or Not To Pay: Insider Secrets to Beating Credit Card Debt and Creditors
by Stanley G Hilton; and to The Quiet Man, who purchased a Queen greatest hits CD and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011) on DVD; and to the young woman who took home an art pictorial in a Slavic language and one on the work of Antoine Watteau (1684–1721). The latter used the Rococo style (…characterized by lightness, elegance, and an exuberant use of curving natural forms in ornamentation). Here’s The Pleasures of Love:
