Headline from newsmax.com: “IRS Has Spent $10M on Combat Gear, Weapons, Ammo Since ’20: Watchdog.” More resemblance to the Mafia.

RIP actress Eileen Saki, 79, who played the tough-talking owner of Rosie’s Bar on M*A*S*H. Born in Japan, she became an American Citizen. There are only 14 other titles under her name at IMDb in a career that spanned 1974–2016. She was in nine episodes of the beloved series, not always playing Rosie. She also had roles in these notable films: Meteor (1979), History of the World Part I (1981) and Splash (1984). And she did commercials, the most recent for Uber Eats. Thank you, Madam. I suppose I might get a ticket, although it isn’t very noisy while driving — yet.
My book shop strategy the first three days this week has been to avoid my usual nook and the donations that come there. Although Monday was disappointing, I cleared inventory Tuesday and today. Incredibly, while I was waiting for Waj to make my dinner gyro, a gentleman who lately has delivered a slew of Russian books approached and offered a dozen more. Oy. I never say no to anyone kind enough to bring stuff. I brought them to the apartment rather than stuff them in the car… Fortunately, the forecast was wrong. There was plenty of sunshine and no rain. My thanks to old friend Rob, who downloaded five of my books to his Kindle, and to the kind folks who bought on the street. Here’s what sold: seven hardcovers in Russian, twelve kids’ books; The Green Mile by Stephen King; The Midnight Club by James Patterson; and Greetings from E Street, a Bruce Springsteen pictorial. Below, a sweet elderly woman sorts through the Russian section:
