Dems don’t want Quid Pro Joe to run in 2024, although they lament there is no one attractive enough in their ranks to lead other than Michelle Obama, who seems too busy reeling in billions from fawners to subject herself to nonsense. How about Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema? Their opposition to the last Build Back Better bill may have saved the country from even worse inflation. Then again, I suppose most leftists believe this is simply a necessary painful period of transition that will be forgotten once their policies take full effect… In a related item, a headline from foxnews.com on clever strategy: “Democrats ‘meddling’ in GOP primaries hoping to nominate unelectable Republicans.”

The line of the day comes from Governor DeSantis of Florida, who upon learning he’d been endorsed by Elon Musk, said: “… I welcome support from African-Americans.” The lily-white Tesla CEO was born in South Africa. It will be interesting to see if the remark inspires venom from the usual cabal.(Gleaned from FN)

Scary headline from FN: “Taiwan warns China it has a missile capable of striking Beijing.” I hope it has more than one.

I got a poignant reminder of how easy my life is compared to most folks my age, 72. I’ve been annoyed recently because wariness about cholesterol content and hemorrhoids has taken a lot of choices and joy out of eating. Add the frustration of Stop n Shop not receiving the prescription for my eye drops — three days back and forth without fulfillment — and I’ve been in a negative mind set. Well, today Mark, a diabetic Vietnam vet/retired postman, told me he was on his way to dialysis. He will be doing it three days a week, four-hour stint, the rest of his life. He has to rely on car service because the procedure leaves one too drained to drive. Kick my spoiled ass.

The floating book shop resembled an actual business on this picture perfect day. My thanks to all who bought, donated and swapped items. I picked up an awesome cache of kids DVDs and some paperbacks in Russian. Here’s what sold: three volumes in the Harry Potter series, Mediterrean Cooking; Belinda, which Anne Rice published under the pseudonym Anne Rampling; two hardcovers in Russian; a bunch of DVDs in that language; and seven Nat Geo’s in Spanish. I am blessed. This also sold, something the world desperately needs right now:
