Stunning headline from nypost.com: “Robert F. Kennedy Jr. discusses son Conor’s secret Ukraine military enlistment.” According to the accompanying article by Nika Shakhnazarova, the young man engaged in combat. He has returned home. Kudos, kiddo.

I find this NYP headline very amusing: “In deep Homeowner reported buried concrete-filled car stolen in 1992, got $87K payout.” Humans are so creative.

Headline on Seattle from foxnews.com: “City officials propose offering gift cards to meth addicts to encourage sobriety as drug overdoses surge.” Wouldn’t they sell them at a discount?

I almost feel sorry for Fetterman, then I remind myself there is a good chance early voting will vault him over the finish line.

RIP prolific actor Michael Kopsa, 66. There are 227 titles under his name at IMDb, and that doesn’t include the multiple appearances he made on TV shows. Born in Toronto, he became a master of the voiceover. He made appearances on several popular primetime sci-fi series: The X-Files, Stargate SG-1, Smallville, Highlander, The Outer Limits and The Twilight Zone reboots, The Dead Zone, Fringe and many more. On the big screen he appeared in the excellent Watchmen (2009). He is the father of a daughter. Well done, sir. Thank you. Photo from Google Images:

RIP director, producer, composer, lyricist and author Jules Bass, 87, a master of children’s fare. Born in Philly, a graduate of NYU, he left advertising in 1960. He was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Children’s Special, The Little Drummer Boy Book II (1976), shared with long-time collaborator Arthur Rankin Jr.. At IMDb there are 58 titles under his name as producer, 44 as director, 10 as composer and eight as writer. The New Adventures of Pinocchio (1960) shot 130 episodes, the three incarnations of Thundercats 178. Here is a collage of creations from Rankin-Bass, followed by a picture of Bass. I didn’t think I had another book in me, but an idea came to me this morning and I’ve banged out one+ handwritten pages. I’m sure it will be longer than a short story but wouldn’t be surprised if it were just a novella. I’ve always wanted to write a speculative fiction novel. I hope this will be it. Its focus will be past lives.

Th sky finally seems to be clearing after four days of rain. I played it safe at today’s session of the floating book shop, putting out only 20% of the wares. My thanks to the woman who bought a book in Russian, and to the gentleman who did a swap.
