This member of Guardian Angels sustained a broken eye socket, broken nose, and received 48 stitches while defending a Foot Locker from looters. He was part of a group of six headed by founder Curtis Sliwa. They managed to hold out against overwhelming odds until police arrived. Kudos.

Is this foxnews.com headline an indicator of the November election? — “MSNBC host Rachel Maddow’s ratings slide continues despite unprecedented news cycle.”

Here’s an FN headline one can really sink his/her teeth into: “Smokey Bones creates extreme bacon doughnut for Doughnut Day.”

RIP Johnny Majors, 85, head coach of 1976 Pittsburgh Panthers National Championship team. He compiled a record of 185–137–10, which included stints at Iowa St. and Tennessee. He was 9–6 in bowl games. Before that, he was an All-American RB at Tennessee and finished second to Paul Hornung in the 1956 Heisman Trophy voting. He also was the Southeastern Conference’s Most Valuable Player as both a junior and senior.

Although I’m not a fan of the President’s tweets, one of his most recent is terrific: “Probably the only thing Barack Obama & I have in common is that we both had the honor of firing Jim Mattis, the world’s most overrated General. I asked for his letter of resignation, & felt great about it. His nickname was “Chaos”, which I didn’t like, & changed to “Mad Dog”…” Mattis wrote an article for The Atlantic accusing Trump of not caring about uniting the country.

I realize I’d made an error in logic in the novella I plan to publish soon. A character is frustrated at not being able to remember the name of a classmate’s ex-husband. All she had to do was thumb through the yearbook, so I will include a line that she lost it.

I’ve set July 1st as the target for the return of the book shop. Today three female entrepreneurs set up a fruit stand directly across the street from my usual nook. Best of luck, ladies.
