More proof that we haven’t seen it all. Headline from newsmax.com: “Ukraine Criticized for Making Female Cadets Parade in Heels.”
Sad headlines from foxnews.com: “Nearly 100 shot across the country during holiday weekend, several killed, including 14-year-old boy.” And: “Chicago violence spikes over July 4 weekend with up to 88 shootings.”
And here’s a headline to boost the spirits of those who love America: “Walmart shoppers break out into ‘Star-Spangled Banner’ over Fourth of July weekend in viral video.” Kudos to the Texans who participated. And here’s a link to a clip of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPypTbn2REo
RIP UCLA legend Terry Donahue, 77, who succumbed to cancer. At only 190 pounds, he was a starting defensive tackle on the 1966 Rose Bowl champions. He was an assistant at Kansas from ‘68-’70, and at his alma mater from ‘71-’75 before becoming the head man, serving from ‘76-’95. His record was 151–74–8, 8–4–1 in bowl games. He has the most victories of any Pac-10 coach ever and the most in school history. During his tenure, the Bruins finished in the top 20 twelve times, and five times in the top ten. His teams won four Pac-10 championships and tied for another. He was the first coach to win a bowl game in seven consecutive seasons. He was Pac-10 Coach of the Year in ’85 and ’93. He is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. After stepping away from coaching, he went into the broadcast booth, serving as an analyst at CBS from ‘96-’98. He then went to work in the 49ers front office and eventually became GM from 2001-’05. In 2006 he became a game analyst for the NFL on Fox and also worked on their Bowl Championship Series coverage. He was also an analyst on College Football Now on the NFL Network and also for Dial Global. Well done, sir. (Facts from Wiki)
