Yip Yip Yip Yip
I was hesitant to blog about the following, as it seems dopey, but since it involves the world of books, here goes. A nypost.com article by Angela Barbuti focuses on the world’s largest tome. I Am Texas contains writing and artwork from a thousand students ranging from third to 12th grade. It is seven feet tall, four feet wide. It’s part of the iWRITE Literacy Organization’s effort to “build student confidence through writing.” I hope it helps but doubt it will. Photo from Google Images:
Common sense headline from NYP: “The college debt solution: Let kids go to work instead of school.” Cue the Silhouettes:
Sha-na-na-na, sha-na-na-na-na, ahh-do
Sha-na-na-na, sha-na-na-na-na, ahh-do
Sha-na-na-na, sha-na-na-na-na, ahh-do
Sha-na-na-na, sha-na-na-na-na
Ahh, yip-yip-yip-yip-yip-yip-yip-yip
Mum-mum-mum-mum-mum-mum, get a job
Sha-na-na-na, sha-na-na-na-na (Get a Job, Raymond James)
From an unattributed article at newsmax.com: “A collection of touching and sometimes prescient personal letters written by a young Bob Dylan to a high school girlfriend has been sold at auction to a renowned Portuguese bookshop for nearly $670,000.” 42 handwritten letters, 150 pages, discovered by the daughter of young Zimmerman’s high school paramour, who passed away in 2020.
Is this another front on the undeclared war between China and the USA? Headline from foxnews.com: “Dem Sen Warner says ‘Trump was right’ about banning China’s TikTok, warns parents against letting kids on app.” According to the article by Anders Hagstrom, the Virginia senator believes the site is a major threat to the privacy of Americans. I wonder why Warner cited DT. He could have stated his case without naming the former president. Will be catch flak from his brethren?
Steve Kelly lampoon of the soon to be former speaker of the house from ddtonline.com. Kudos, sir.
Not much business today at the floating book shop, but all the secondary stuff couldn’t have been better. Parking going and coming worked out perfectly and, except for an occasional gust of wind, conditions were a lot kinder than I’d expected. My thanks to the woman who overcompensated me for two kids books.
